Supercomputing Technical SETA

Location:  Maryland

Clearance:  TS/SCI w/Polygraph (Must currently hold this level of security clearance)

Role:

Scientific, Engineering, and Technical Assistance (SETA) support will be provided for a program that seeks to develop a superconducting circuit design flow with a comprehensive set of Electronic Design Automation and Technology Computer Aided Design tools for Very-Large-Scale Integration design of Superconducting Electronics.  The program is tightly aligned with the National Strategic Computing Initiative targeting the development of exascale computing machines.  Relevant technical areas include advancements/alternatives to semiconductor-based exascale computing, cryogenic computing, and superconducting electronics.

Duties:

  • Attend meetings, workshops, conferences, and testing events as a subject matter expert;
  • Assist with the development of presentations such as program management reviews;
  • Serve as a liaison between program performers, test and evaluation contributors, and government transition partners;
  • Review, provide analysis, and make recommendations concerning technical reports, data, and program performer approaches;
  • Examine data and literary sources for emerging technology related to the program;
  • Provide technical support and expertise on new concepts beyond the program that are integral to the program’s success (e.g., seedling activities); and
  • Additional technical support for specific deliverables in support of future program activities.

 

Basic Qualifications (Required):

  • Doctorate in mathematics, physics, computer science, or engineering with specific knowledge and experience in all of the following areas:
    • Solid state theory
    • Quantum field theory
    • Quantum simulation and computational physics
  • Three (3) years of technical expertise and experience (within the past 15 years) in all of the following relevant areas:
    • Computer-aided electronic design automation tools and experience in design of complex electronic circuits
    • Superconducting electronics
    • Microelectronics fabrication process development and associated technology computer aided design (TCAD) tool use development, and validation.
    • Foundry service management and setup
    • Fabrication process technology transfer.
  • Two (2) years of experience in design, development, and test of complex software systems for automated design within the past 10 years.
  • One (1) year experience in dealing with intellectual property (IP) issues in technical areas relevant to this program (e.g. patent examiner, patent lawyer, etc.).
  • Two (2) years of experience in analysis of complex material processes and associated design tools and methodologies.
  • Two (2) years of program management experience (within the past 10 years) for research or research acquisition organizations with experience in managing complex research programs with multiple performers and multiple test and evaluation teams. This must include experience in evaluation of performer research plans and test and evaluation plans.
  • Two (2) years of experience in developing and analyzing performance metrics for complex design software.
  • Five (5) years of experience in industrial research and develop in the areas of electronics, photonics, and RF/microwave technologies.
  • Five (5) years of experience in systems engineering.

Desired Experience:

  • Five (5) years of technical expertise and experience (within the past 15 years) in all of the following relevant areas:
    • Computer-aided design tools for complex electronic circuits
    • Superconducting electronics
    • Microelectronics fabrication process development and associated technology computer aided design (TCAD) tool use development, and validation.
    • Foundry service management and setup
    • Fabrication process technology transfer.
  • Five (5) years of experience in experience in design, development, and test of complex software systems for automated design within the past 10 years.
  • Two (2) years of experience in dealing with intellectual property (IP) issues in technical areas relevant to this program.
  • Three (3) years of experience in design and modeling of complex material processes and associated design tools and methodologies, (e.g. non­equilibrium Green's function calculation for electronic transport).
  • Three (3) years of program management experience (within the past 10 years) for research or research acquisition organizations with experience in managing complex research programs with multiple performers and multiple test and evaluation teams. This must include experience in evaluation of performer research plans and test and evaluation plans.
  • Two (2) years of experience in developing and analyzing performance metrics for complex design software.
  • Proficiency in integrating multiple special purpose software packages into
  • an overall tool chain.
  • One (1) year of experience in developing and evaluating computer aided design (CAD) tools
  • Three (3) years of experience in modeling of superconducting electronics
  • One (1) year of experience with device physics and circuitry of computer memory technology
  • One (1) year of experience with computer microprocessor micro architecture.
  • Three (3) years of experience in supporting DARPA or IARPA programs.
  • Ten (10) years of experience in systems engineering.

Travel:  May be required to travel within the local Washington Metro Area, within the Continental U.S., and internationally to visit industrial, academic, and/or Government organization in support of the Task Order
